Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled Steel (HRPO)

Hot rolled, pickled & oiled steels are treated hot rolled steels for surface cleaning purposes. This treatment is done by passing the material through an acid bath and it is followed by an application of protective oil that works as a lubricant and rust preventive measure. This process is a good alternative to sand blasting as it is relatively cost effective and let the end user directly use the material without the hassle of inhouse surface cleaning and/or oiling operations. Hot rolled, pickled & oiled steels might be coils, cut to length sheets or slitted according to customer request.

These steels are mostly used for bending, drawing and deep drawing operations. Although this type of steel does not offer high precision surface quality, it is widely used for applications that require strength, rigidity and formability including but not limited to machinery industry and automotive industry.

Some of the end products that are manufactured using hot rolled, pickled & oiled steels are cold drawn containers, heavy vehicles suspension parts, hollow sections, welded gas cylinders, rack systems, tubes and various roll forming products. Ready to use nature of this type of steel make it a good choice for continuous processes.

Even though protective oil level on steel surface can be chosen by the buyer, it is recommended to not go below medium level as it might lead to premature corrosion due to atmospheric and/or environmental effects.
