One of key elements based on the classification of flat steels is their mechanical properties. The mechanical properties of steel is crucial when it comes to choosing the appropriate steel grade for a specific production processes. The three fundemental properties of steel materials are yield strength, tensile strength and elongation. For example, steel grades with high formability such as DC04 and DX54D are preferred for the deep drawing applications. Likewise, when an inaccurate raw material is used in production, defects such as tearing, creep, and flow marks may occur.
As Ferineks, we apply mechanical test to all the steel products we deliver within the framework of our entry quality control practices. For this purpose, we have a 50-ton capacity ZWICK brand tensile test device in our laboratory. Yield, tensile strength and elongation values determined during the input quality control processes are presented on the quality certificates issued by Ferineks for the steel products that we deliver.
Our laboratory also provides mechanical testing service to test samples sent by our customers and prospect customers. An A4 paper size flat steel sample is enough for Ferineks laboratory to perform mechanical testing through our ZWICK device. Subsequently, a test report showing the mechanical values is presented to the sample owner. Based on the test report the grade of the steel sample can be understood. We provide mechanical testing services for both manufacturer certificate verification and steel grade determination within the scope of R&D purposes.
The annual calibration of our test device is carried out by ZwickRoell Malzeme Test Sistemleri San. and Tic. Ltd. Sti.
